President Muhammadu Buhari has announced his departure while also revealing who will lead the country while he is absent.
President Muhammadu had intended to leave from Nairobi, Kenya, after visiting the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), but he opted to postpone the medical check- up.
On March 1, Femi Adesina, President Buhari’ s special assistant on media, indicated that Buhari will leave Kenya and travel to London for normal medical exams that will stay no longer than two weeks.
Buhari, according to the Dailytrust Newspaper, stated While he is away, Nigeria’ s vice president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, would be in charge of the country.
President Buhari noted before his departure from Abuja’ s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would be in charge constitutionally while he was out of the country.
Furthermore, President Buhari told Nigerians that his absence would have no impact on the state’ s activities, suggesting that he was aware of every incident that occurred while he was away.
When asked how the country would run without him, he said that he couldn’ t claim to be doing everything by himself. He went on to say that the government is well- represented.
Furthermore, there has been speculation as to who President Buhari will support as Nigeria’ s future president.
Meanwhile, Muhammadu Buhari isn’ t the type of person who can be easily predicted or divined. It’ s impossible to know what he’ s thinking. And, like the smart general he is, he has honed his talent of not revealing his true intentions, carefully picking his words like a cat on a catwalk.
In a January 2022 interview with Channels Television, the president stated that he does not have a favorite Presidential candidate, and that if he does, he will not announce the identity because he may be eliminated before the election, therefore he has opted to keep it a secret.
