Mallam Nasir El- Rufai, the governor of Kaduna state, has been accused by a pro- Buhari party of spreading chaos inside the APC.
The governor, according to the organisation, has been exploiting Buhari’ s name to push his personal agenda within the party.
El- Rufai, according to the group, has already done enough to tarnish President Muhammadu Buhari’ s image.
Pro- Buhari Group claims El- rufai Is Using Buhari’ s Name To Destroy APC
Governor Nasir el- Rufai of Kaduna state, according to the Buhari Core Supporters Network (BCSN), is out to smear President Muhammadu Buhari’ s image.
The organisation also claimed that the governor is behind the widely circulated leaked All Progressive Congress (APC) zoning records, and demanded that he be punished for his transgression.
In a statement provided to Legit on Sunday, March 6, the group’ s president, Badamosi Luqman, said it was heartless that documents bearing President Buhari’ s signature were leaked under such dubious circumstances.
He stated that the subject of the documents is contentious and has implications for the survival of Nigeria’ s democracy.
Since the documents surfaced, he claims, President Buhari has been subjected to unjustified attacks and criticism from both within and beyond the party, including accusations that he is a tyrant who has usurped his party’ s ability to elect its leaders.
The following was part of the statement:
” We have consulted those that are familiar with the circumstances behind the leaked documents and have found out that only El- Rufai had custody of the original documents and is consequently the only person that could have leaked them, which we now have cause to believe he did to further his own agenda.
” As a state governor and a public office holder who took the statutory oaths to assume office, El- Rufai should have known the error in releasing such sensitive documents to the public when he was not authorised to do so. It is doubtful that he would take it lightly for any of his aides or subordinates to commit the same crime he has committed.
” We are worried that the same El- Rufai who is acting behind the name of President Buhari and leveraging Nigeria’ s first citizen’ s name to destroy the APC while at the same time keeping up the pretext of being on the president’ s side. ”
APC’ s Rescheduled National Convention Will Deepen Democracy Within The Party- Youth Forum
Meanwhile, concerned Northern APC Youth Forum, for one, has emphasised on justice and fairness as a means of building the party in order for it to be acceptable in the 2023 general elections.
Chairman of the group, Hon. Suleiman Liba, said it was important for the APC to strictly allow internal democracy to minimise issues that could put the party at risk at a press conference attended by a Legit reporter on Tuesday, February 22 in Abuja.
The postponed national convention, according to the party, is an opportunity for APC members to play roles that will expand democracy in the country.
Pressure Mounts On Buhari To Anoint His Fave Aspirant
Another organisation, the Concerned APC Members Forum, has issued a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to appoint a competent national chairmanship candidate ahead of the APC’ s national convention on Saturday, February 26.
Ahead of the convention, the organisation asked the president to choose from among those aspiring from the north- central.
In a letter dated Friday, February 11 and delivered to the president, the forum also encouraged the president to look into the records of the many persons wanting to lead the party, according to Legit.
The letter’ s convener, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, feared that unless the president intervened swiftly, the party would be thrust deeper into difficulty following the national convention.
The following was part of the statement:
” Your Excellency Sir, it was your interview with the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA that prompted the Progressives Governor’ s Forum to initiate the process of the forthcoming national convention of our party slated for 26th February 2022. Again, we say thank you, sir.
” Judging by the activities of the various actors, we appeal to Mr. President not to allow the selfish interest of the 2023 p[residential ambition of some ranking members to destroy the party. ”
The group beckoned on Mr. President to recommend a dedicated and disciplined member, a man of humility and resilience who understands party administration and will respect both former and current governors, senators, ministers, party loyalists, and, of course, the party’ s leaders.
Nabena Tells Aggrieved APC Chieftains To Respect Party Supremacy
Meanwhile, the APC’ s deputy national publicity secretary, Hon. Yekini Nabena, has issued a warning to ” fifth columnists and their sponsors” who are working against the ruling party’ s national leadership.
He labelled the recent acts of some APC members as an act of insubordination against the party leadership, according to Legit.
Those funding calumny campaigns against APC national leadership on national television and other media platforms, Nabena cautioned, should be aware that the national convention will come and go, but the damage they have done to the party’ s reputation will last.
